Your best Bud-E

8 Oct

Your friends are coming over within an hour to watch the game, so you quickly take a look in the fridge to be sure you still have enough cold beers. Oh no, just 4 beers left. If you’d known this before, you would’ve had enough time to go to the store and to make sure the beers would be cold before your friends come over.

beer 1To prevent this (especially for men) ‘huge’ problem, Bud Light is introducing a connected mini fridge that monitors and displays the number of bottles inside the fridge. This Bud-E Fridge also sends out an alert when low on beer via an accompanying app and even lets you know when the beers inside are the optimal temperature for consuming. How ideal!

But, hold on, that’s not all. The Bud-E Fridge and its accompanying smartphone app, developed together with Bud Light, Linq IQ and Buzz Connect the opportunity for sports fans to program their favorite teams. Now they can be kept up-to-date via the app with upcoming games. Of course you need to have enough beers before the game, so the Bud-E Fridge checks the number of beers. If there aren’t enough inside, Bud Light updates the stock level in real-time. The app is integrated with beer delivery service Saucey, which allows consumers to order Bud Light for home delivery.

When you finally have enough beers in your fridge, a countdown timer will indicate when the beers will reach optimal serving temperature. When they’re cooled down below 32 degrees, they’re good to go!

beer 2This smart fridge shows information from its inside to its consumers via their mobile devices. This kind of technology can be used in the future for more general fridges inside homes, so people will know what kind of products they need to purchase.

The constant quest for innovation will lead to enhanced experiences for the consumer. With the Bud-E Fridge, they’ve created something that shows how we constantly push the boundaries in technology and innovation. Especially for the connected home of the future, but in this case to provide beer drinkers new ways to enjoy Bud Light with their friends.

Obviously, this product will improve people’s quality of life. Especially people who love beer. Of course it’s not a life changing concept, but I’m sure it will prevent a lot of frustration and ensures nights and nights of relaxing, watching games and drinking beer!

Moving wash & dry

13 Nov

“Two friends turned their van into a mobile laundromat to wash clothes for the homeless.” It sounds almost too good to be true, but actually, they really did! Homelessness is extremely difficult to deal with. It is the condition and social category of people who lack housing, because they cannot afford, or are otherwise unable to maintain, a regular and safe shelter. Besides having to battle the elements every day and constantly wondering where your next meal will come from, the homeless tend to have a very difficult time maintaining personal hygiene.

Lucas Patchett and Nicholas Marchesi, two 20-year-old boys from Australia, noticed that not enough was being done to help the homeless with their hygiene needs.

They created a very convenient way to help the homeless: they’ve outfitted a van as a mobile laundromat to give the homeless the opportunity to clean their clothes safely and called it the Orange Sky Laundry Project.

Why Orange Sky?

The song, Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch has been a major inspiration behind this project. “In your love, my salvation lies” and “I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky, with my brother standing by” are lyrics from the song. The entire message of the song is about helping your brothers and sisters. These values are imperative to us and central to our project.

The two inventor of the project started with a generator and an old. They put two washing machines and two driers in the van, which could process 20 kg of laundry an hour! This all was possible by the many donations they got.

When the boys started with Orange Sky Laundry, they had three goals in mind. The first one was to raise health standards. The second one was to restore respect, and the third one was to reduce stain on resources. They have seven board members working on the project, which all have diverse ranges of skills and life experiences. They all share the same goal: seeing Orange Sky Laundry running the streets of Australia. The project runs on volunteers, and they want to stimulate especially younger people to find simple ways to help people in need.

The project is also partnering with a few charity food vans in Australia. Their corporation makes it possible for the homeless to have a meal while their waiting for their laundry to be done.

At the moment, the Orange Sky Laundry Project is in its early stage, but the two boys and their team have the drive to take it to the next level. Their vision is to provide the laundry services all across Australia by the end of 2015.

This project fits the trends Socialization and Sharing Society. The two guys are helping the ones in need by creating a meeting place for them, while they share their experiences and supplies and help to wash their laundry.

Must See App

20 Feb

If you want to travel to a city you’ve never been, and you have no idea what kind of activities you can do there, the Must See Map by KLM, is the thing for you!

What is it?

The Must See App is a simple, online tool to collect the best tips for your next city trip. Online, you can create your own map. By collecting tips from friends who have been in that city, you could complete your map with all the things you want to do during your trip. The tips and tricks are gathered in a clear map with addresses, so you could easily find what you’re looking for. This will make your trip a lot easier, because you don’t have to look for things you can do. You’ve already selected the best things!

Why is it cool?

The Must See App is a cool solution for people who love the adventure of travelling, but still want some kind of a guide who escorts them. If you’re not familiar with the city you’re going to travel to, there are always people who could recommend some things you MUST see. This is, in my opinion, a much better way to lure people to go on city trips. I think they attach more values on the meaning of other people, than on the sales pitches of travel agencies.

That’s why I think the Must See App is, for KLM, a good way to appeal people to go on city trips. For the users it’s cool, because they can pick every location they want to see, and, by the help of friends, have a great city trip with all the highlight and the things you must see!

Why does it have future growth potential?

I think this app has future growth potential, because, if other organizations see what a profit KLM gets out of it, they want something like that for their company too. I think that’s how this app will grow in the future. Users reacted really positive on the app, so I think that KLM is going to expand the app more and more. In this way, they’ll get more success out of it and it also helps travelers more than a lot!
